Extra conversations and your spending limit
How extra conversations are charged, and how to lower or raise your limit.

Beyond the conversations included in your plan, each conversation in a 30-day period costs your plan's rate: $0.40 on Starter, $0.30 on Growth and $0.25 on Scale. Shopify charges them as they happen, up to your spending limit.
Your spending limit
Your limit is the amount you approved on Shopify's page when you chose your plan: by default $50 on Starter, $150 on Growth and $400 on Scale, every 30 days.
- To lower it, open Plans, enter an amount under Spending limit (Limit every 30 days (US$)) and click Save limit. It applies at once.
- To raise it, enter a higher amount and click Save limit, or click Raise my limit to … on the PixelChat home page when it appears. Going above the amount you approved opens Shopify's page to approve it.
At the limit
When the next conversation would go over your limit, new chats show your team's contact buttons instead of an answer, and aren't charged. This lasts until you raise the limit or the next 30-day period starts. Chats already under way that day continue, and shoppers aren't told about plans or limits.
The PixelChat home page also warns you at 80% of your limit and when it's reached.
Spending limit emails
We email your store's Shopify address when your spending on extra conversations reaches 80% of your limit, and again when it reaches the limit, meaning there isn't room for one more extra conversation at your plan's rate. If a single conversation takes you from under 80% straight to the limit (only possible with a limit under ten extra conversations' worth), you get just the limit email. Each email is sent at most once per 30-day billing period; changing plan starts a new period. Once the limit is reached, new chats show shoppers your WhatsApp and message buttons instead of an answer, until the period ends or you raise the limit. Chats already under way that day continue.
